A small and unique-looking breed, the Chinese Crested is a tiny dog standing no more than eleven inches tall at the shoulders. The hairless variety actually does have some hair, but only on its head, tail, and feet, making the dog appear to be wearing socks and a long wig.

The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is the state dog of Maryland, so named because it was bred along the Chesapeake Bay. Standing approximately two feet tall at the shoulders, these dogs are built for working both on land and on water.

Although it only stands about a foot tall at the shoulder, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel stands with obvious elegance and fearlessness. A breed with royal heritage, these dogs were named after King Charles II of Britain.
