Paisley is one of our most popular patterns at Country Brook Design. The word Paisley brings to mind the Beatles, long skirts from the Summer of Love, and a popular country singer named Brad. It most recently gained prominence during the 2010 Winter Olympics, when the Azerbaijan team became known for their paisley pants.

Pets provide us with unconditional love, an extended and furry family member, and in many cases, much more than that. We have all seen service animals helping the blind, often called "seeing eye dogs." There are also charities that train dogs to help the deaf and those with psychiatric disorders. Cats are not as easily trainable as dogs, but they too can provide valuable services. One of my friends has a severe hearing loss, and I've seen her cat alert her to someone on the back porch whose presence she would not have otherwise noticed.

Dog training is part of being a dog owner. In the last ten years, Cesar Milan achieved fame as a dog trainer with a TV show called The Dog Whisperer, which he followed up with several best-selling books and training DVDs. Local obedience schools are available to help new dog owners learn to live well with their new canine family members. Cat people are amazed at the lengths that dog people have to travel to achieve a peaceful co-existence with a canine, but the work is well worth it.
